Is it possible to learn to love? If so, then how should we learn to love? This paper attempts to clarify the new perspective for “learning to love” beyond the old concept that is so-called “pedagogical love”. Learning to love will be a progressive approach for youths to learn to live together. Firstly, by interpreting hermeneutically the traditional concept of pedagogical love which has been discussed mainly in Germany, it will be found out that pedagogical love tends to be thought of as Eros, Agape, mother love or unconditional love based on the thought in West. Secondly, the question to this concept will be put in order to explain the difference between pedagogical love and learning to love. Then, based on the thought of Erich Fromm, the key issue of learning to love is explained using his concepts. Finally, some possibilities of learning to love in schooling will be presented.
