The decrease of SMEs that have supported Japanese economy will cause further downturn in its economy. Today, SMEs are expected to find effective ways to continue its business. In the first place, SMEs should make thorough analysis of their own companies in order to establish their \"competitive advantages\" in the market. The market environment has changed from the former vertical division of work into the horizontal one, where SMEs are compelled to manage themselves, instead of being managed mostly by their parent companies. To ensure their \"competitive advantages, \" it is also essential to create \"innovation\" in their own business.
